Guided Group Portrait Practice
Practice the portrait photography techniques you learned in the four-week series in a group setting. In this three-hour session, you’ll be put into two groups of 3-4 people and provided professional lighting equipment to practice your portraiture. There will be two models and each group will practice with each model. You’ll be given assignments as well as have free time to explore with your group. An instructor will be on-hand to guide you, help identify problems and assist in problem solving.

Audience
This class is targeted for students who have completed the four-week portrait series class and are looking to increase their proficiency in portrait photography.
Objective
This session picks up where the four-week portrait series left off. Students will work with professional models and professional lighting equipment hands-on to practice the concepts covered in the four-week series. Students will leave the session with a better understanding of how to approach their portrait photography.
Schedule and Format
This three-hour class consists of hands-on time in group including lighting setup and model direction. Students will provided with lighting equipment and backdrops to set up as a group. The instructor will provide some assignments and some free time for the students to photograph each model. The instructor will review the student’s work (back of camera) and provide feedback for adjustments and improvement. A non-commercial model release will be provided as part of this class.
About the Instructor
The instructor for this class is Austin photographer Tim Babiak. Tim is a full-time photographer and a long-time instructor at PCU. Tim serves as Chairman of the Austin Professional Photographers Association and is a two-time recipient of the Photographer of the Year award from the Austin Professional Photographers Association. Tim is also a two-time Bronze Medalist in PPA’s International Print Competition.
